The first nine days of September shipped five tagged releases, v1.18.26 through v1.18.30. Most are fix-level, but four themes stand out: Claude thinking-block stability, five-minute provider timeouts, GPT-6 and Astra model handling, and provider fixes across Azure, Bedrock, Copilot, and GitLab.
1. Claude sessions that survive their own thinking blocks
Two releases in a row hardened Claude thinking behaviour:
- Claude 5 sessions tolerate stale thinking blocks instead of failing after prompt or tool changes (v1.18.26)
- Anthropic thinking block binding is limited to Claude 5.1+ models so older deployments do not reject requests, and
thinking.blockBindingcan opt out via config when you need to keep the provider default (v1.18.27)
2. Provider timeouts default to five minutes
v1.18.27 sets provider header timeouts and streamed chunk timeouts to five minutes by default, so slow model startups fail less often. Streamed chunk timeouts support false to disable them, and timed-out SSE reads no longer hit unhandled errors when canceled. (v1.18.27)
3. GPT-6, Astra, and integer model versions
- Codex OAuth model filtering now recognizes integer GPT versions like
gpt-6(v1.18.29) - The issue of
gpt-6-astranot showing up for OpenAI subscription users was fixed (v1.18.29) - The Astra system prompt was added for GPT-6 models (v1.18.30)
4. Provider fixes across the board
- Azure CLI sign-in asks for the resource name directly instead of querying Azure management APIs (v1.18.26)
- GitHub Copilot requests send the session ID as the interaction header to improve request tracking across a session (v1.18.28)
- Bedrock DeepSeek model IDs — including ARN-based IDs — are preserved so they resolve correctly (v1.18.30)
- Bedrock GPT-5.6 models accept
nonereasoning effort (v1.18.26), and reasoning effort variants were added for supported GitLab GPT and Claude models (v1.18.30) - The Azure and OpenAI provider SDKs were updated to pick up compatibility fixes (v1.18.30)
Also worth knowing
Tool call timing now stays accurate when tools update their metadata while still running, apply_patch no longer emits an empty move path in permission metadata, and Bedrock reasoning and replay handling is more reliable (all v1.18.26). On Desktop: session renames now save reliably from the title editor and tab context menu (v1.18.26), OpenCode account device authentication uses the desktop client ID (v1.18.28), and the open-in app icon is larger for better visibility (v1.18.28).
